It is found firmly attached to the bark of broadleaved trees, fenceposts, and occasionally to rocks. It appears as a yellowish-green disk, 2\u2033 to 8\u2033 in diameter, divided into numerous irregular lobes.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike most lichens, Greenshield lichens <em>(Flavoparmelia<\/em> spp.<em>)<\/em> are relatively tolerant of air pollution. They are among the first noticeable lichens to return to areas that have been rid of lichens due to pollution.<\/p>\n<p>The Greenshield lichens are similar in appearance.
